Somerton
House
A contemporary Hampshire home inspired by the atmosphere of a luxury hotel lobby. Designed to feel elegant yet inviting, the interior balances soft neutral tones with rich textures, sculptural finishes, and layered lighting to create a timeless and immersive space.
The client’s brief centred around a high end aesthetic with a focal fireplace, intricate lighting, and dynamic materials that would bring warmth and sophistication into the home. To anchor the room, a statement fireplace composition was introduced with illuminated shelving and carefully curated art pieces, whilst an additional window was added beside the fireplace to create architectural symmetry and balance.
From concept
to completion
Throughout the space, metallic finishes and tactile textures add depth and contrast. Liquid gold panels, oxidised mirrored surfaces, organic brass detailing, and bronze coffee tables introduce understated glamour, softened by textured wallpapers, layered fabrics, and warm neutral upholstery. Burnt orange accent chairs bring warmth and richness to the scheme.
Metal room dividers were incorporated to elegantly zone the open plan layout whilst still allowing light to flow naturally throughout the space. Ripple glass lighting reflected against the oxidised wall to wall mirror helps expand the perception of the room, creating a soft, atmospheric glow without overpowering the interior.
The result is a home that feels refined, atmospheric, and quietly luxurious, combining boutique hotel sophistication with everyday comfort.
